About This Content

One of the most eagerly awaited German locomotives for Train Simulator, the DB BR 261 ‘Voith Gravita’ is now available in distinctive Deutsche Bahn livery.

The DB BR 261 10BB built by Voith, and named internally as the ‘Gravita’, is a diesel-hydraulic shunting freight locomotive able to operate over medium capacity main line freight routes.

Chosen to replace the ageing fleet of BR 290 series of diesel shunting locomotives, the Gravita is state-of-the-art and boasts a main-line capable cab setup.
Its sister vehicle, the BR 261, is virtually identical with only a diesel particulate filter between them.

The BR 261 10BB for Train Simulator is available in Deutsche Bahn livery and features combination throttle and brake, cruise control/speed set, engine start/stop, cab and instrument lighting, in-cab signalling, PZB and SIFA systems. Also included are Rnoos 64 and Zacns 95 freight cars.

The locomotive is also Quick Drive compatible, giving you the freedom to drive the DB BR 261 ‘Voith Gravita’ on any Quick Drive enabled route for Train Simulator, such as those available through Steam. Also included are scenarios specifically for the Mannheim-Karlsruhe route (available separately and required to play these scenarios).

Scenarios

Three scenarios for the Mannheim-Karlsruhe route:
  • Cold Evening in Karlsruhe
  • Top of the Morning
  • The Great Marshall

More scenarios are available on Steam Workshop online and in-game. Train Simulator’s Steam Workshop scenarios are free and easy to download, adding many more hours of exciting gameplay. With scenarios being added daily, why don’t you check it out now!

I don't understand who called this DLC "Stunningly State-of-The-Art".
I agree that some features are nice but basic functionality is out of the expectation.
First of all you won't be able to switch between a slow and fast gear. It's locked in a position slow, however your loco will go much faster than 50 km\/h.
In the package there are 2 types of freight wagons: Rnoos 64 Freight Car and Zacns95 Tank Freight Car. What is funny, if you pull tankers you won't be able to go faster that 11 km\/h. What is interesting it doesn't concern Rnoos 64.
So if opening windows and moveable blinds are for you more important than physics, you can buy it (of course not for a full price), otherwise skip this DLC. I regret now, that spent my money for it.. With the update pretty much all of the issues reported in previous reviews have been fixed (physics issues with the tank wagon; switching between slow \/ fast gear is now added; unrealistic AFB is gone; more Headlight options available now...) The model, textures and little bonus features in the cab have been great from the start, unfortunately the loco itself was disappointing in version 1.0. But now after the update I really enjoy driving it. I would recommend using the mouse rather than the keyboard to operate the levers, because they are quite delicate and take some getting used to, but finally now I feel like taking the time to get used to the unusual controls is actually worth it.

Before the update came out I would not have recommended the Gravita, but now I do.. This loco came with the Mannheim Karlsruhe pack and for me this loc is a total lost money item, I read in the comments the problems with it where fixed, but not in my version, the loc does not go more fast then 50kmh, and the scenarios that came with it want you to drive more quick, purchased yesterday 3 \/5\/2016, so where are the updates.. This is one gorgeous locomotive. Hard as hell to drive, definitely not for the beginners. But once you get the hang of it, you'll have a blast. I thoroughly enjoyed driving it so far. I wouldn't recommend buying it at full price, but when it's on sale, it's well worth it. I got it as part of "The Rhine Railway: Mannheim - Karlsruhe Collection".. The loco has many bugs despite update. The manual doesn't explain loco operation properly and it's undriveable with hud, you must use mouse.

Can be enjoyed, but be prepared for many annoyances.

Crucial elements not in manual: you must switch the gear raio on the middle panel to drive faster than 50 kph. To decrease throttle gradually, you must use mouse. For braking, use mouse.... :(

For shunting it's very gimmicky.
